Sports Medicine services at Body Therapeutics are focused on restoring, maintaining and improving your performance as a recreational or professional athlete or as a person who places those demands on your body in your work and everyday life. Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
When you get injured, you experience a loss of function in one or more of the physical domains above. The severity of the injury and your functional goals for recovery will determine the course of treatment. Physicians, physical therapists, sports medicine specialists and other holistic providers working in concert with one another will ultimately enable the best possible results. Our goal and your goal is the same: to get you back to doing the things you love...and have you doing them well.
Flexibility Training
One of the physical qualities providing the greatest positive impact on life-long performance and health is flexibility. When your flexibility is limited, your mobility is limited, with limited mobility you do less, and doing less just isn't an option. We understand the relationship between length and tension and work with you to discover, restore and/or improve the optimal ratio between the two. As a result, the potential for injury is decreased and performance is enhanced. We use soft tissue manipulation or bodywork as well as various styles of stretching (Active, Passive and variations of each). As an example, one of those stretching methods is called PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) which is a passive form of stretching that has yielded terrific results for healthy athletes looking to gain range of motion and improve performance. We also specialize in the custom design of flexibility programs; we teach you how to do it and let you follow through on your own.
Strength Training
Whether you want to prevent injury, regain function after an injury or just increase performance in your work or play - a customized strength training program is essential in helping you achieve your goals. By building a relationship with you and using our unique process we design an individualized program for you to use at home or in the gym. Speed Training
Speed is a quality often thought of as being limited to athletes. You may be surprised to find that many aspects of speed are really useful to everyone in every stage of the training process. We use an effective biomechanical analysis, educate you on what contributes to speed and then raise your awareness of where in the training process developing speed will benefit you. If you're an athlete, you already know the value of speed but perhaps you've settled for a certain level of speed that is well below your potential. Endurance Training
