Licensed Massage Therapist

Alison is a Licensed and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. She is a graduate of the Massage Institute of New England where she studied many different styles of massage including Classic Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Healing Stone Therapy. She has also been a Usui Reiki practitioner since 1999. Alison enjoys using a variety of techniques to create a personal treatment to fit each person’s individual needs.

Alison has experience working in clinical massage settings in Mansfield and Westborough, Massachusetts. The people she typically serves are seeking treatment for a variety of issues including chronic pain, fibromyalgia, rotator cuff restriction, stress, anxiety and sleep disorders. Alison has continued her development with classes in deep tissue, prenatal, and infant massage. She has been trained by Tracy Walton to provide massage to people experiencing cancer treatment and with a history of cancer. Alison strongly believes that massage helps people to reconnect with their own body and bring them to a place of profound health and healing.

Jennifer CaronJennifer Caron, Lic. Ac., MAc.
Licensed Acupuncturist, Founder

Jennifer is a Licensed Acupuncturist, and the founder of Body Therapeutics. She is a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture - the oldest and one of the most renowned acupuncture schools in the US. She is trained in both Chinese and Japanese styles of acupuncture, as well as many related adjunct therapies including moxibustion, cupping, electro-stim and Chinese massage. Having provided acupuncture treatments in a variety of clinical settings including Malden Hospital, Dimock Community Health Center, and Pathways to Wellness, Jen has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patient populations with diverse conditions. Her particular specialties and interests lie in the treatment of chronic and acute pain, stress and anxiety, infertility and women's issues, allergies and migraine headache. She is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine and is board certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Jennifer has the unique background of being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She graduated with distinction from Assumption College with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and has worked in both public and corporate accounting. Jen first discovered natural medicine when she sought out acupuncture to help her with stress, low energy and neck pain when she was working long hours as a CPA. She found that acupuncture was one of the only things that gave her any relief from her pain and energy deficiencies. In addition, Jennifer has been training in martial arts and meditation for over 11 years at the Zen Training Center in Worcester, and has been teaching Aikido since 2003. Her martial arts and meditation training, as well as her business background, has combined with her formal education in acupuncture and holistic medicine to inspire the creation of Body Therapeutics and her mission to bring optimal health and well being to the people of Worcester County.

Cindy Crowninshield is a Licensed Registered Dietitian and Holistic Health Counselor. She completed her graduate study in nutrition at Boston University Sargent College, and also graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York with certification as a Holistic Health Counselor/Nutritionist. Through her expertise and evidence-based nutrition services, she coaches and empowers people to organize themselves in health and wellness through a whole foods approach and making healthy hifestyle changes. Cindy has worked with patients of all ages in a variety of clinical and community settings, and is skilled to provide medical nutrition therapy for many health conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disease, weight management, gastric bypass, food allergies, eating disorders and more. Cindy helps clients incorporate healthy food choices that work into their individual daily lives, based on a variety of unique factors such as energy needs, career, relationships, spirituality and physical activity.

Cindy has a unique business background, having graduated with a B.S. in Business Management from Fitchburg State College and from the Center for Creative Leadership's Leadership Development Program. Cindy first became involved in nutritional healing as a teen after experiencing major health problems. What began as a hobby has become a life pursuit in helping others to lead healthier lives. Cindy has combined her business background with her nutritional expertise as a conference program developer and project manager for global business and scientific conferences. This work allows Cindy to stay on top of the latest trends pertaining to drug discovery and development, systems biology, clinical and personalized medicine and genetics. She recently completed a 1,600 hour nutrition internship program with Southcoast Hospitals Group/Sodexo and is professionally active in her field, serving as Chairperson of the Southeastern Massachusetts Dietetic Association and a member of the American Dietetic Association.

Licensed Massage Therapist

Cat is a state-licensed, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. She graduated from New Hampshire Institute of Therapeutic Arts’ comprehensive massage therapy program, studying techniques ranging from traditional Swedish relaxation massage to Neuromuscular Therapy for Postural Reintegration and Deep Tissue. Cat continues to further her education by participating in courses on injury-specific techniques, prenatal massage and other therapies, and employs a combination of the techniques in her practice to treat each individual’s needs. She often utilizes Core Stones heated soapstone cylinders as a therapeutic tool to help release tight muscles and increase client comfort when addressing deep tissue dysfunction. She particularly enjoys educating clients about “basic body maintenance,” and what they can do at home to continue and expand their healing. Cat’s clients typically come to her for relief from headaches, chronic pain, shoulder and back issues, sciatic pain, stress and anxiety.

Before becoming a massage therapist, Cat completed her bachelors degree at Smith College in Northampton MA, focusing on book and paper arts. She has taught art workshops with older elementary school students and continues to create her own artwork. Cat’s time in Northampton sparked her interest both in alternative and holistic medicine and community-based healthcare. In addition to her massage practice, Cat is currently training to become a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor -- she finds this yoga of awareness to be essential to today’s fast-paced lives. She also volunteers with the American Massage Therapy Association to put on an annual professional development conference for New England area practitioners. Cat’s own stress-relief valves include baking gluten-free treats, snuggling with her cats, and kayaking.
 

Dr. Sean ThorntonSean Thornton, DC
Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Thornton is a licensed chiropractic physician with over 10 years of experience. He is a graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College where he focused on sports injuries and played hockey, softball, volleyball and lacrosse. Prior to joining Body Therapeutics, Dr. Thornton worked for six years as an Associate Chiropractor in Webster, MA. He has also practiced in Wrentham, MA, New Jersey and Missouri. Dr. Thornton has continued his education in areas of strength & conditioning, nutrition, chiropractic and golf, extremity adjusting and maternity and pediatric care.

Dr. Thornton earned his bachelors in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Sports Medicine / Athletic Training from Pfeiffer University in North Carolina. Dr. Thornton is also certified to prescribe custom orthotics and often uses a multitude of techniques and tools to help his clients feel better and maintain their health and well being for the long haul. Dr. Thornton is a full-time chiropractor at Body Therapeutics and accepts most major insurance carriers.
