Licensed Acupuncturist & Chinese Herbalist

Gabriel is licensed in the State of Massachusetts by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Board of Registration in Medicine and is a graduate of Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Immediately after his graduation from Southwest, he began a three-year apprenticeship with Mr. Takayuki Koei Kuwahara, a master in Japanese Meridian Therapy. Gabriel’s apprenticeship was modeled after his teacher’s own apprenticeship in Japan, and involved a rigorous schedule of treating patients and assisting in the clinic, as well as meditation and martial arts practice. Gabriel feels a deep gratitude for the opportunity he was granted to develop his practice in this way.

Gabriel has spent many years training in various martial arts and physical disciplines. Before becoming an acupuncturist, Gabriel volunteered as a peer counselor in a community clinic in Oakland, CA. He then desired a more hands-on approach to healing, and completed a massage therapy program at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences and became certified in Tui Na (a medical massage based on the principles of acu-therapy). Gabriel practiced as a massage therapist in California before moving to New Mexico to attend acupuncture school. Gabriel’s multifaceted foundation in the healing arts now informs his approach to holistic medicine.
