The benefits of sauna heat have been known for ages. In most saunas, however, you have to endure unbearably hot rooms in order to get any benefit. Because Sunlighten® infrared panels have the highest emissivity rating possible, they do not generate uncomfortable levels of heat, allowing you to stay in the sauna longer and reap more of the benefits of infrared.

Infrared heat is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum, which is comfortably absorbed by human tissue. The most important element in an infrared sauna is the heater’s emissivity rating, which determines how efficiently heat is emitted. Sunlighten’s patented solocarbon® heaters include full spectrum infrared (far-infrared, mid-infrared and near-infrared) and have an emissivity rating of 99% (the highest rating possible!). This means while most saunas just increase the ambient temperature of the room, Sunlighten® saunas have the emissivity needed to heat your body from the inside out, and are the only saunas proven to raise the core body temperature by five degrees (Fahrenheit). What should I wear?
We ask that you wear a swimsuit or shorts and a tank top. You will be given a towel to put on the bench to sit on, as well as one to put on the floor for your feet.
Why am I not sweating?
Don’t be surprised if you don’t sweat for the first several sessions! Remember, the Sunlighten® solocarbon technology allows for the greatest possible emissivity rating, which means your body absorbs more of the infrared, and the room doesn’t get as hot as other saunas (that’s a good thing!). Sweat levels vary from person to person, and will increase with regular sauna use.
Is the Sauna safe for me?
We do not allow sauna use for pregnant women, as their body temperature is elevated to begin with, and we want to avoid further elevation. Children may use he sauna when accompanied by an adult, but your time will be limited to 1 minute per year of age of your child. If you have other conditions that you are concerned about, please consult with your doctor before using the sauna.
It is a good idea before and after sauna use to drink 24 ounces of water in order to keep your body well hydrated.
